End of Grade Dissertation
1. General information
The Degree Final Project (DFP) has the following objectives:
a) Apply and transmit the knowledge acquired throughout the degree in the realization and defence of the Degree Final Project
b) Acquire critical judgment in the elaboration of the work and especially in its conclusions.
c) Acquire skills in the critical analysis, organization and coherent interpretation of information from different sources
d) Acquire skills in the use of specific bibliographic sources and computer resources.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement. And, specifically, with the following SDGs: Goal 4: Quality Education; Goal 5: Gender Equality; Goal 10: Reducing Inequalities; Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions, Goal 17: Alliances to Achieve Objectives.
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
-Is able to obtain a knowledge of humanistic disciplines (History, Philosophy, etc.) that allow the understanding of the work of art in its historical-cultural context
-Is able to understand the theory and fundamentals of Art in their academic or introductory work, as well as the theory and fundamentals of the different methodologies for its interpretation within the different cultural contexts.
-Is able to demonstrate a knowledge and critical analysis of the History of Art, specifically of the subject matter their his work, that is to say, of its sources, characteristics, main lines and causes of evolution.
-Is capable of cataloguing a work of art that is the object of study in his/her academic or introductory work, within the cultural field, historical period, movement or trend to which it belongs and, if applicable, in his/her overall production cultural sphere, historical period, movement or trend to which it belongs and, if necessary, in the global production of its author, with its antecedents and repercussions author's global production, with its antecedents and repercussions.
-Is capable of interpreting a work of art in their academic or introductory work, by considering its aesthetic values, reflecting on its form, function and meaning, and studying its relationship to the historical, cultural, social, economic, political, ideological, religious and individual context in which it was created.
-Is capable of carrying out an academic or initiation work in basic tasks that are proper of their professional profile, according to the scientific method of the discipline and based on bibliographical consultation and interpretation of the sources.
-Is able to obtain capacity of analysis, abstraction and synthesis in the realization of their work.
-Is able to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired throughout the degree to their work of an academic or introductory nature in tasks that are proper to the art historian.
-Is able to search, gather, organize, interpret and assimilate the knowledge acquired during the degree, by means of critical reading, analysis, discussion and systematization of the data offered by bibliographic sources and computer resources, in order to make judgments that include a reflection on relevant topics.
-Is able to acquire training in various interdisciplinary fields such as modern foreign languages and ICT for the development of their work.
-Is capable of carrying out, according to the scientific method of the discipline, an individual work of an academic nature or an initiation work in tasks that are proper to the professional profile, in which they demonstrates knowledge:
-Is able to apply all knowledge, skills and abilities learned in the degree.
-Is able to systematically search for, critically analyse, and coherently organize and interpret information from a variety of sources.
-Is able to construct with rigor and critical sense some conclusions on the subject that has been the object of study or reflection.
-Is able to write in an orderly and coherent manner, with the structure of the discipline and with the pertinent critical apparatus, the results of the work.
- Shows ability in the effective use of ICT in the development and presentation of the work assigned.
- Is able to consult and read specialized bibliography in foreign languages.
5. Assessment system
First call
Global assessment.
-The exam will consist of the elaboration, presentation and oral defence of a written report with a maximum duration of 10 minutes, in front of the board of examiners made up by the director of the work in a public session. It will be assessed following the Procedure for the defence of the DFP in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters https://fyl.unizar.es/sites/fyl/files/archivos/Calidad/SGIC_Procedim/prc_007_20230201_v2.pdf).
Those papers that qualify for an “Honour” grade will be defended again before a board of examiners in order to obtain it.
Criteria: quality of its structure and contents, demonstrated ability to propose hypotheses and use appropriate methodologies, critical capacity, linguistic correctness, and, in general, level of achievement of the degree competencies.
Second call
Global assessment (100%) identical to the first call.
